When I walk alongside this beautiful river
Though alone, I feel thy presence
Has this gentle breeze brought
That holy touch from thy hands of grace?
Like this small river finds
It’s way into the endless ocean,
When does my ailing heart
Find salvation in the ocean of thy love?
Like a bird flying across the sea,
I am too curious to find the shore
When I try to cross thy love;
Such is thy love; endless, mysterious!
The sunset that marks the end of the day
Is the blessing for me
I can dream thy face endless through the night
Everything else is darkness!
My life is a flute
That doesn’t produce music
Unless thou blow thy breathe into it
Pour thy love and give me serenity
I am a devotee; why make me wait?
Why not come out of the unknown shrine of thine,
Approach me like a tranquil wave of the river
And bless me attain the ultimate peace of mind?
When the morning rays kiss dews on petals,
They get glitters and form rainbow
When the mellifluous wind blows in the bamboo grove,
They produce rejuvenating melodies for the world
Honey filled flowers in the forest
Songs of the wind echoing in hills and dales
The seas, hiding an unseen world in it
And the shore, in romance with some sea birds
The gaze of the morning sun through leafy rich trees
Twilight shadows of the dancing coconut leaves
Nature, the impeccable art of the God!
I see thy face in everything around
Thou has always kept me on wait
Like butterflies after the flowers deny honey,
I am too wandering in utter despair
I know not how to choose my path to destination
Come; lead me to the ethereal realms of thine
That is away from all the perils of life
Where there are no masks in everyone’s face
And can ever hear only the music of love
Dusk descends with spells of dim light,
The sky turns pale in prayer like a saint;
The river sings chorus to the retreating sun,
Through the mango grove the wind carries your scent.
The night is cool with snowing of the winter
And is bright with countless stars and the moon in the sky
My eyes look welcoming sleep
Sing thine song once again before I fall asleep
Inside the walls of this unfamiliar solitude,
The glitters of the silicas in the stream
And the murmurs of the leaves to the west wind
Are my only companions!
Clouds, the messengers of rain
Have now come in the sky above the mountains
A little darkness spreading over the valley glades
It’s all over; The raindrops now start kissing the earth
A pair of doves has come from unknown skies
In the rain-washed courtyard of my house
The sudden shower has given some life
To the pale yellow leaves of the mango grove
A sweet little rose garlanded with raindrops
The sun playing hide-and-seek in the clouds
A rainbow comes and suddenly vanishes
So does a crew of some unknown flies
Everywhere are the dancing waters;
Nature explores the umpteen possibilities of rain!
Like a pen dipped in ink bottle
Gets life to live up to long pages,
My life, once dipped in thy love
Gets the breathe for the whole of this life
There’s nothing as charming as a smile blossoming on thy face
Like a lotus unfolding its petals in the sunrise
There’s nothing as shining as a glow in thy eyes
Like moonlight spreading in the gloom of the night
When thou come and stand before me
Like a goddess from the heavenly world,
I can only stand still with amusement in my eyes
Like a bee on its first sight of the flower
The sun has started its descend from the mid-sky
The hungry cattle are moving to the riverside pasture
In this cottage of bamboo sticks I still sit alone
Praying to thee to help fighting my delusions
Life is like a lonely cloud in the autumn sky
That does not know when it finds end in the infinite
There’s only one thing that has tormented my heart
That is thy negligence to my prayers
I have always placed thee in the heavens
Because that’s the place where all happiness mark beginning
And my dreams have always taken me to where thou are
I have thus travelled to heavens
Of exuberance; where thou with thy magic fingers
Play the notes on my life, like the strings of a sitar!
Of serenity; where thy presence calms every storm
And thy grace weaves peace in my soul!
I have always perceived myself as a stranger
Only until I saw thine glittering eyes
Where I saw my reflection that gave me new life
I have thus seen miracles through those eyes
Thou has given me a newfound soul,
Stream of my thoughts purified in thy grace;
From the mirror of thine eyes I realized
What I am, and what I was made for.
No treasures in the world I crave again,
No heavens beyond thee I seek;
In thy gaze lies my kingdom! Divine and Glorious!
And in thy smile — I find my salvation
Each breath I take bears thy name,
Each heart beat of mine is a chant to thee;
Let the time dissolve, let the worlds end,
Thou alone shall remain, my eternal truth!
